My Sister and I have matching rings
from the Black Plague in 1352, when a third of the world died.
These rings were a gift from our Dad, for protection, 
I think he gave them to us 15 years ago, maybe more. 
I had mine in some drawer, I remember texting
my sister last year to see if she still had hers. She did. 
I asked her to put it on right away.
And I was thinking, "what are the odds?"
"What are the odds, that he would buy us something like that
and now we are living during a plague".
They are ancient, made of metal, with a 5 pointed star
hand hammered onto the top. It looks like they were 
made in a hurry. 
They had given up on the Christian symbols
so many deaths,
and reverted back to older rituals and symbolism.
Pockets full of posies to keep the smell of death away.
I wear my plague ring, which is too big for my fingers
on a chain. 
How did he know?
