I used to be a poet.

Picture
This open space, blank, white
I think carefully about each word,
letting them loll around in my head
like a lozenge.
The possibility of writing something profound
or (more likely) something funny, stupid, vapid
or somewhere in between.
The stringing of words together
the power of each letter
placement of punctuation
Maybe no punctuation?
Or too much punctuation?
There are no real rules in poetry.
I guess the only rule is you have to write.

So, here I am.
